Indonesia’s GoTo Group has joined forces with Tencent Cloud and Alibaba Cloud in an agreement aimed at accelerating Indonesia’s digital transformation.
The agreement, witnessed by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Indonesia-China Business Forum, includes major investments in cloud infrastructure and digital talent development.
Tencent Cloud will establish its third Internet Data Center (IDC) in Indonesia, committing US$ 500 million to infrastructure and investment in the country by 2030.
Alibaba Cloud, which already operates three data centers in Indonesia, plans to train 800,000 individuals in cloud computing and AI by 2033 and establish a skills centre at Universitas Indonesia.
These commitments stem from the expansive cloud services contracts signed between GoTo and the two cloud providers in September 2024.
The partnerships will enhance GoTo’s digital infrastructure, ensuring data sovereignty and security for Indonesian users.
The collaboration will also support GoTo’s efforts to promote digital inclusivity, particularly for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Both Tencent Cloud and Alibaba Cloud will leverage their expertise in data analytics, AI, and cybersecurity to support GoTo’s growing user base and contribute to Indonesia’s economic growth.
Senior Vice President of Tencent Cloud International, Poshu Yeung, highlighted Tencent’s dedication to supporting Indonesia’s digital transformation journey.
Meanwhile, Sean Yuan, Vice President of Alibaba Cloud International, reaffirmed Alibaba Cloud’s commitment to Indonesia as a key market in Southeast Asia.
