Perry Warjiyo has resigned as Bank Indonesia governor, triggering an interim leadership change at the country’s central bank.
Warjiyo voluntarily stepped down for personal reasons on 25 July 2026, according to Bank Indonesia.
The central bank’s Board of Governors appointed Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti as acting governor during a meeting on 26 July.
The appointment was made under the provisions of the Bank Indonesia Law.
Bank Indonesia maintained that the leadership change would not disrupt its work to preserve rupiah stability, support payment system stability and safeguard the country’s financial system.
The central bank will also continue coordinating with the Indonesian government while respecting the responsibilities and mandates of each institution.
