UOB, in partnership with Indonesia’s education technology platform Ruangguru, has launched a five year initiative to provide 90,000 students in the country with access to digital learning resources and future oriented skills.
The programme forms part of UOB My Digital Space, a regional initiative established to reduce the digital divide and broaden access to quality education.
Over the course of five years, the programme will reach 500 schools each year across 60 cities in all 38 Indonesian provinces.
Students will be provided with digital tools and curriculum designed to strengthen critical thinking and computational thinking, skills regarded as essential in an increasingly digital and AI driven environment.
UOB My Digital Space, introduced in 2020, operates across seven markets, including Indonesia.
Since its inception, it has supported more than 38,000 students in Southeast Asia, with a further 20,000 expected to participate this year.
Marking part of the bank’s 90th anniversary efforts to support education across Southeast Asia, the initiative reflects an emphasis on building digital capability among young learners.
Hendra Gunawan, President Director of UOB Indonesia, said,

“The launch of UOB My Digital Space in collaboration with Ruangguru reflects our commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen, supporting education and driving Indonesia’s broader economic and digital advancement. Aligned with the government’s Asta Cita vision, we believe that building strong foundations in education is key to unlocking national potential.”
Ruangguru’s CEO, Belva Devara, added,

“This programme is designed to inspire confidence and equip students with the skills they need to thrive in the digital era. By combining Ruangguru’s innovative technology with UOB’s dedication to community development, we are helping students unlock their full potential and become future ready.”
According to the Indonesian Digital Society Index, the country’s digital literacy score in 2024 was 43.34%, a slight increase from 43.18% in 2023.
While this shows some progress, it also indicates the continued challenges in achieving widespread digital adoption to support economic growth.
UOB My Digital Space in collaboration with Ruangguru aims to address these challenges by giving students access to tailored digital tools and learning materials that build essential skills for the modern economy.
