GoTo Group and Alibaba Cloud have completed the migration of GoTo Financial’s infrastructure to Alibaba Cloud’s data centres in Jakarta.
The transition supports Indonesia’s data sovereignty requirements by ensuring all data is stored within the country.
GoTo Financial, the digital finance arm of GoTo Group and operator of the GoPay platform, serves over 20 million monthly transacting users.
The migration is part of a broader partnership between the two companies established in September 2024.
The project involved shifting core applications to Alibaba Cloud’s local infrastructure, which is expected to improve service reliability and operational efficiency.
Both teams collaborated to implement a dual-core architecture that enabled a gradual transition without disrupting services.
The migration was supported by Alibaba Cloud’s suite of products, including tools for full Infrastructure as Code deployment.
Alibaba Cloud’s three data centres in Indonesia played a key role in providing computing, container, database, and security capabilities throughout the process.
Beyond infrastructure, the partnership has extended to talent development.
In May, Alibaba Cloud co-hosted a GenAI Hackathon with GoTo and Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs to support digital skills development.

Patrick Walujo, GoTo Group CEO, said,
“By completing this migration with Alibaba Cloud, we’ve strengthened the core infrastructure that underpins GoTo Financial’s services. The transition also reinforces our commitment to Indonesia’s data sovereignty, with all data being held within Indonesia.
As a result of this, our company is now well positioned for the future as we continue to support millions of Indonesians with trusted, homegrown financial solutions.”

Sean Yuan, Regional General Manager, South Pacific & Japan, Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, said,
“This successful migration shows how Alibaba Cloud’s technologies can support large-scale digital transformation.
We’re proud to work with GoTo in shaping Indonesia’s digital future and look forward to deepening our partnership.”
