OJK and the Satgas PASTI task force handled 330 illegal finance and scam cases in August and September 2026.
Illegal online lenders made up the largest share, with 241 cases. The rest were 74 impersonation cases, eight investment firms and seven personal loan cases.
These lenders often offered fast loans through websites, unofficial apps, social media and messaging apps.
Their interest and fees were not clear, the task force said. They also misused personal data and used harmful debt collection methods.
Others posed as certain institutions. They used their names, logos or identities to gain trust and commit fraud.
From January to September, the task force stopped 1,199 illegal online lenders. It also stopped 250 investment firms, 38 pawnshops and two other illegal activities.
In August and September, it halted 11 pawnshops. None had the OJK licence required under the P2SK Law.
Satgas PASTI handles scams through the Indonesia Anti-Scam Centre (IASC). Since it began work on 22 November 2024, the centre has received 702,342 fraud reports.
By 30 September, it had blocked 702,833 accounts linked to suspected fraud. Blocked funds reached Rp825.2 billion. It helped return Rp207.16 billion to victims.
OJK said these results show “the importance of cross-agency coordination and prompt public reporting”. Both help stop scam funds and protect victims’ money.
The task force urged the public to be wary of investment offers that promise quick, high and guaranteed returns.
People should check lender licences with OJK and keep OTPs, PINs and passwords private. Before sending money, they should confirm requests through a verified number.
