Bank Indonesia recorded a 100% year-on-year increase in QRIS transactions during the first half of 2026, reaching 12.55 billion transactions.
The central bank has already achieved nearly three-quarters of its annual transaction target, according to Jakarta Globe.
The value of QRIS transactions grew 89.52% year-on-year to Rp 600.69 trillion (US$33.5 billion) during the six-month period.
Speaking at the Prima Executive Gathering 2026 in Bali, Bank Indonesia Deputy Governor Filianingsih Hendarta highlighted QRIS’ role in Indonesia’s digital financial infrastructure.

“QRIS has become a gateway to the digital economy and a game changer for Indonesia’s digital economy and financial system,”
Filianingsih said.
By the end of June, the national QR payment system had 66 million users and 44.86 million merchants.
Bank Indonesia is targeting 70 million users, 47 million merchants, and 17 billion transactions by the end of 2026.
Introduced in 2019, QRIS allows consumers to make payments using a single QR code across participating mobile banking apps and digital wallets.
The standard replaced a fragmented system where merchants previously needed to display multiple QR codes from different payment providers.
The system has expanded digital payment access for MSMEs, enabling businesses to accept electronic payments through a single printed QR code.
QRIS ecosystem currently includes 96 banks, 60 non-bank financial institutions, and four payment switching operators.
