Singaporean insurtech company Igloo has partnered with Telkomsel, Indonesia’s largest telecommunications provider, to introduce a range of embedded insurance services.
The collaboration reflects the growing role of digital-first insurance in Asia’s mobile-driven markets.
Telkomsel is Igloo’s second major telecommunications partner, following a collaboration with a Philippine operator in 2024.
The partnership gives Telkomsel’s more than 150 million customers access to products including cybersecurity, gadget, travel, and phone screen protection insurance.
These services can be purchased directly via the MyTelkomsel app when topping up credit or buying data packages, with premiums ranging from IDR 200 to IDR 3,000 depending on coverage and duration.
Claims can be submitted and managed through the app’s Insurance Hub feature.
The initial rollout covers four products for prepaid subscribers.
Cybersecurity insurance starts at IDR 500 and provides protection against identity theft and electronic fund transfer fraud of up to IDR 1,000,000.
Gadget insurance, from IDR 1,000, covers theft and device protection of up to IDR 500,000.
Phone screen protection, from IDR 200, offers repair coverage up to IDR 200,000.
Travel insurance, available from IDR 500 per day with roaming packages, includes coverage for medical expenses, accidents, and flight disruptions. Further products are expected to follow.
The launch comes amid changing consumer behaviour in Indonesia, where rising digital adoption and e-commerce growth have been shaped by a young, mobile-savvy middle class.
Kadence Indonesia reports over 210 million internet users in the country, with a mobile penetration rate of 77% and 73% of e-commerce transactions conducted via mobile devices.
Cybersecurity insurance is being positioned as a timely option given rising threats.
Check Point reported Indonesia experienced an average of 3,300 cyberattacks per week in early 2023, the highest in Southeast Asia, while SOCRadar noted more than 4,400 phishing incidents in 2024.

“Embedding insurance protection on the MyTelkomsel App with Igloo reflects our commitment to enhancing the digital lifestyle of Indonesians by offering convenient, secure, and relevant protection that goes beyond connectivity,”
said Alfian Manullang, Vice-President of Data Solutions and Digital Financial Services at Telkomsel.

“With more Indonesians spending time and money online, this partnership reinforces our commitment to not just connect but also protect our users.”
“It is great to count Telkomsel, Indonesia’s biggest telco, as one of our partners,”
said Raunak Mehta, CEO and Co-founder of Igloo.
“To be able to do this for Telkomsel’s over 150 million customers is further testament to our expertise and commitment in this area.”
