CIMB Niaga plans to launch life and health insurance products on its OCTO application through a partnership with Sun Life Financial Indonesia.
The move signals a strategic repositioning for the bank, shifting its focus away from a broad super app model towards deepening its digital wealth management services, according to a report by Finansial Bisnis.
The planned upcoming products will complement existing investment options on the platform. OCTO currently offers mutual funds, government bonds, and gold savings.

“We are no longer pursuing becoming a super app. Our focus now is on deepening services,”
said Lusiana Saleh, Head of Digital Banking and Contact Center at CIMB Niaga.
By adding protection to its investment offerings, the bank intends to position OCTO as a platform capable of meeting customers’ comprehensive financial needs, according to Lusiana.
The joint products are scheduled to roll out in the near future and will target different customer segments.
CIMB Niaga plans to offer life insurance geared towards primary earners, alongside health coverage to address rising medical costs.
The bank reported that mutual funds and bonds remain its largest investment contributors. Its gold savings feature has also seen high demand since launching in late 2025.
To improve financial inclusion, the platform allows users to buy mutual funds starting from Rp10,000. It also offers gold savings from Rp80,000 and government bonds from Rp1 million.
Digital channels now account for about 90% of all transactions at CIMB Niaga. Furthermore, users open 60% of new investment accounts through the OCTO app.
The bank is also exploring further developments for its gold savings services in collaboration with Pegadaian to support its growing digital ecosystem.
