Insurtech company bolttech has partnered with Harmony Auto, a Chinese automotive distributor specialising in premium, luxury and new energy vehicles, to introduce a range of insurance products for BYD electric vehicle (EV) owners in Indonesia.
The initiative expands on bolttech and Harmony Auto’s collaborations in Singapore and Hong Kong, and is intended to provide protection tailored to EV ownership.
Drawing on bolttech’s expertise in embedded insurance and technology, alongside Harmony Auto’s distribution network, the plans are aimed at addressing risks that go beyond conventional motor insurance.
The insurance products are now available through all BYD Harmony Auto showrooms in Indonesia.
Coverage options include a comprehensive plan and a total loss only (TLO) plan, both designed for new vehicles with a maximum insured value of IDR 1.5 billion.
According to bolttech, the plans include EV-specific services such as 24/7 roadside assistance, compensation for battery and home charger damage, ambulance support, taxi reimbursement, and protection for wheels and tyres.
They also provide personal accident protection for drivers and passengers (up to IDR 50 million per person, depending on seating capacity), third-party liability cover (up to IDR 50 million), passenger legal liability, and limited medical expenses.
Customers selecting the comprehensive option will additionally be covered against natural disasters, riots, terrorism and third-party liabilities.
Andrew Cons, General Manager of bolttech Indonesia, said:

“At bolttech, we believe that protection should evolve alongside innovation. Our partnership with Harmony Auto reflects our commitment to supporting Indonesia’s green mobility transition by providing EV owners with smart, flexible insurance solutions.”
Pak Suwandy, Country Head BYD & Denza at Harmony Auto, added:

“By integrating bolttech’s insurance offering into our customers’ EV ownership journey, we’re giving them more than just a vehicle, we’re giving them peace of mind, convenience, and confidence on the road.”
The companies said the collaboration aligns with the Indonesian government’s EV adoption target of two million electric cars and 13 million electric two-wheelers by 2030, by reducing risks linked to EV ownership and ensuring drivers have access to insurance from the outset.
