GoPay has introduced the GoPay QRIS Tap payment feature using NFC technology in the GoPay app.
This move aligns with the government’s efforts to increase cashless transactions in Indonesia, in line with Bank Indonesia’s (BI) 2030 Indonesian Payment System Blueprint (BSPI).
According to Finansial Bisnis, Bank Indonesia has officially launched the latest cashless payment option, namely QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard) Tap, also referred to as QRIS Tap, to make payments easier for the public.
QRIS Tap caters to the need for fast and mass payment transactions, including public transport, retail, MSMEs, and parking.
In support of the government, GoPay is facilitating QRIS Tap as a payment option in the GoPay app to provide more convenient and quick cashless payment methods.
GoPay QRIS Tap allows GoPay app users to make payments simply by tapping their phone on a reader or EDC (Electronic Data Capture) machine used for the transaction.
Kelvin Timotius, Head of GoPay Wallet, said,

“GoPay continues to innovate by offering leading technology to make cashless transactions easier for users. We hope our users will enjoy even more options for easy and secure cashless payments. We also hope this innovation will serve as a step to support Bank Indonesia in promoting payment digitalisation.”
Currently, GoPay QRIS Tap payments are only available for Android users.
GoPay app users can use GoPay QRIS Tap at various merchants, including retail outlets, MSMEs, transport services, and parking facilities.
