Jenius, the digital banking arm of SMBC Indonesia, has partnered with Wise Platform, the global payment infrastructure provider, to enhance international money transfers for users in Indonesia.
The integration allows over six million Jenius users to send money abroad more quickly and at a lower cost, with transparent pricing and real-time tracking.
Previously, Jenius users could buy and sell foreign currencies via the app.
This new collaboration expands those services, enabling direct international transfers in multiple currencies, including USD, EUR, GBP, SGD, AUD, and HKD, at any time.
Transfers can be made from Jenius Foreign Currency accounts to overseas bank accounts, with no reliance on traditional banking hours.
International remittances in Indonesia have often been hindered by high fees, slow processing, and limited transparency.
The Jenius-Wise integration aims to address these challenges, supporting various needs such as overseas education, family remittances, and international business transactions.
Jenius, launched in 2016, had over six million registered users as of March 2025, a 13 percent increase from the previous year.
The collaboration with Wise is part of its broader effort to expand access to digital banking services across different segments of Indonesian society.
Febri Rusli, Digital Banking Product and Innovations Head at SMBC Indonesia, said:

“By embracing co-creation and the ‘Think Unthinkable’ spirit, constantly challenging conventional boundaries, this collaboration will redefine how digitally savvy Indonesians send money internationally.”
Erma Epryani, Commercial Lead of Wise Platform Indonesia, said:

“By collaborating with Jenius, we’re enabling faster, affordable, and more transparent international payments for millions of Indonesians, meeting the evolving needs of the digital savvy community, with even more currencies in development.”
