Digital platforms are driving adoption through embedded distribution and AI to improve Indonesia’s historically low insurance penetration.

Indonesia continues to grapple with a national insurance penetration rate of 2.7%, according to the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

To address this protection gap, digital startups are reshaping insurance distribution by embedding coverage into consumer ecosystems and digitising traditional sales channels.

Top 5 Insurtechs in Indonesia for 2026

We examine the top insurtech companies in Indonesia shaping the domestic insurance market in 2026.

    Last updated: 10 July 2026

    Qoala

Qoala operates as an omnichannel insurtech company that distributes retail insurance products through strategic partnerships and a network of independent agents.

The company raised US$47 million in Series C funding led by PayPal Ventures and MassMutual Ventures to prioritise profitability and scale its technological infrastructure.

Its platform distributes health, motor, travel, gadget and lifestyle insurance through digital partnerships and its own agent network.

    PasarPolis

PasarPolis focuses heavily on micro-insurance, offering bite-sized policies for cracked smartphone screens, flight delays, and personal accidents.

The company expands its distribution reach by embedding these policies into major digital ecosystems like the Gojek platform.

In late 2025, the firm secured an extension of its Series B funding backed by Tokio Marine Holdings to further develop its digital underwriting capabilities.

    Igloo

Singapore-headquartered Igloo operates a full-stack technology strategy to power embedded insurance distribution across Southeast Asia.

The firm recently introduced an AI-powered insurance sales agent in Indonesia to guide travellers purchasing travel insurance.

Igloo has also expanded its local product suite by partnering with Chubb Life to distribute life and health policies.

    Fuse

Fuse deploys a business-to-agent-to-consumer model that equips independent brokers with digital tools to sell policies more effectively.

The platform connects multiple insurance providers into a single interface, allowing agents to issue digital policies and manage claims digitally.

The company previously strengthened its market position by expanding its micro-insurance partnerships with major digital channels like Tokopedia and Grab.

    Bang Jamin

Bang Jamin functions as an emerging local platform providing vehicle, health, and travel insurance with a focus on rapid claims processing.

The startup secured US$4 million in pre-Series A funding to scale its distribution reach and modernise its technology infrastructure.

Bang Jamin differentiates itself through digital policy issuance and streamlined motor insurance claims.

The growth of these platforms highlights a shift from pure customer acquisition to sustainable profitability.

Investors are increasingly backing startups that combine embedded distribution, AI and digital automation to reduce operating costs while expanding insurance access among underserved consumers and SMEs.
