Australian AI infrastructure startup Firmus Technologies is partnering with Nvidia to build a 360MW AI data centre campus in Batam, Indonesia, as reported by Bloomberg.
Firmus expects the partnership could generate up to US$30 billion in committed offtake agreements during the first six years of operation.
The startup is developing the project with Singapore-based digital infrastructure platform DayOne and is scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2027.
The company will provide customers with access to Nvidia technology through a revenue sharing and credit support agreement. The deal covers up to 170,000 Nvidia AI accelerator chips across 2027 and 2028.
Firmus Co-Chief Executive Tim Rosenfield told Bloomberg the Batam facility will operate as a multi-tenant project for AI native customers.
This marks a shift from the company’s Australian sites, which focus on hyperscalers or the largest cloud computing providers.
Firmus reached a valuation of US$5.5 billion in an April funding round backed by Nvidia.
The company is reportedly preparing for an initial public offering in 2026. Rosenfield declined to comment on potential listing plans.
Addressing recent volatility in AI stocks, Rosenfield stated that market sentiment is largely irrelevant to how Firmus is building its business.
He noted that the company relies heavily on customer demand and confirmed contracts to drive its expansion.
Founded in 2019 as a Bitcoin mining operation in Tasmania, Firmus has steadily expanded its footprint across APAC.
The company previously signed a 2025 agreement with CDC Data Centers to develop up to 1.6GW of capacity in Australia.
