SBI Holdings has made a US$270 million strategic investment in Ajaib Group, Indonesia’s leading online multi-asset investment platform, acquiring an approximately 20% stake through a subsidiary.
The deal makes Jakarta-based Ajaib an equity-method affiliate of SBI Holdings, though SBI’s own announcement does not disclose the investment amount.
Ajaib confirmed the US$270 million figure in a separate LinkedIn post, calling it Indonesia’s largest tech funding round since 2022.
The investment brings Ajaib’s total funding raised since 2019 to more than US$500 million, and could value the company at roughly US$1.35 billion based on the size of SBI’s stake, according to Forbes.
SBI has also launched several digital asset initiatives with Singapore-based partners, including a publicly on-chain Japanese equity fund with DigiFT, and JPYSC, Japan’s first trust-type stablecoin, issued with Startale Group.
The group plans to work with Ajaib to expand distribution of JPYSC and support its broader Southeast Asian digital-asset push, according to Bloomberg.
Yoshitaka Kitao
“In this era of tokenisation, the importance of global infrastructure for digital assets is greater than ever,” said Yoshitaka Kitao, Representative Director, Chairman and President of SBI Holdings. “As a platform that handles traditional financial products together with digital assets, the Ajaib Group is a perfect match for the SBI Group’s vision.”
Anderson Sumarli
“Southeast Asia is home to the next billion people who will discover financial services, and they will discover them in a world shaped by digital assets, tokenised real-world assets and AI,” said Anderson Sumarli, Co-Founder and CEO of Ajaib Group. “We share Chairman Kitao’s conviction that the infrastructure for this future is being built today, and we could not ask for a better partner to share our vision with.”
