Robinhood will acquire Indonesian brokerage Buana Capital Sekuritas and licensed digital asset trader Pedagang Aset Kripto, marking the US retail trading platform’s entry into one of Southeast Asia’s key crypto markets.

“Indonesia represents a fast-growing market for trading, making it an exciting place to further Robinhood’s mission to democratise finance for all,”
said Patrick Chan, Head of Asia at Robinhood.
Acquiring a brokerage helps Robinhood meet regulatory requirements and establish a presence, while the purchase of a licensed digital asset trader provides faster access to crypto products, Reuters reported.
The company did not disclose financial terms, and the deal is expected to close in the first half of 2026.
Pieter Tanuri, majority owner of both firms, will remain as a strategic adviser.
Robinhood, known for its commission‑free, app-based platform, disrupted US retail trading by attracting a new generation of investors.
The company joined the S&P 500 index in 2025 and announced its expansion into prediction markets in March.
Its shares, which went public in 2021, have risen nearly 268% so far this year, as of 4 December.
